GIZ Bangladesh is currently seeking applications for its project “Higher Education and Leadership Development for Sustainable Textiles in Bangladesh (HELD)” for the position “Technical Advisor- Higher Education”.

Project Background:
HELD is a German-Bangladesh bilateral Development Cooperation project with the goal of strengthening the application-oriented competencies of future managers and specialists in the textile industry in sustainable business management.
Responsibilities
The position holder is responsible for the below tasks:
Managing an area of responsibility that forms part of the programme objectives, team agreements and/or agreements with the superior
Assisting project/programme initiatives to provide professional advisory services to and cooperate with a broad range of target groups
Advise supervisor on all task when implementing GIZ rules and regulation
Advise supervisor in the field of project’s planning, steering and monitoring
Independently implement goals and requirements set by the line manager
Make decisions which have a short-term effect within a limited project area/ unit
Assist supervisor to identify day to day problem and suggest appropriate solution
Tasks (Main Job Role)
The position holder is responsible for
Supporting the project manager in coordination and implementation of the projects in line with GIZ rules and regulations
Representing GIZ towards stakeholders and ensure that GIZ values and principles are upheld
Providing professional and technical advice to the project and partners and establishing contacts as well as cooperating with important stakeholders
Ensuring safeguarding the quality of process of office/ project
Ensuring adequate knowledge management within the project and communicating progress and results to a broad target group
Supporting the project manager with reporting and knowledge management
Tasks (Specific for job role)
The position holder will
Support the implementation of Output 1 of the HELD project, according to which social and ecological sustainability topics are to be taught in the training of future managers in the textile industry at universities and textile colleges in Bangladesh
Support activities for the accreditation and implementation of sustainability curricula in Bangladesh in cooperation with German universities
Support the integration of a sustainability module in various bachelor’s degree programs at university level as well as in subordinate public textile colleges
Support the establishment of a master’s degree course in “Sustainable Textile Engineering” at a Bangladesh university
Support the establishment of a sustainability chair at a Bangladesh university in cooperation with German industry players and international universities
Support the establishment of university-led sustainability trainings in cooperation with the private sector partner
Maintain close contact with the project partners and other important implementing partners, i.e. the University Grants Commission (UGC)
Support training of trainers activities at universities and textile colleges
Support the formation of a network of lecturers through inter-university exchange
Monitor and report progress relating to Output 1
Required qualifications, competences and experience
Qualifications:
Master’s Degree in e.g. Educational, Social or Economic Sciences, Business Management or any other related field
Professional experience:
5 years in relevant occupational experience
Previous job experience in GIZ or another international organization will be an asset
Professional experience in training and research in the academic sector, and/or the textile and garment sector, and/or development cooperation. Special focus on education is an asset
Corporate Social Responsibility experiences in the supply chain of the textile sector with a sound understanding of current social and environmental sustainability trends in the garment sector and its challenges
Other knowledge, additional competences:
Ability to work well under pressure and must be a strong team player
Must have good interpersonal and communication skills
Fluency in English is essential (written and oral)
Knowledge of German Language is an asset
Ability to work in an intercultural environment
Good organizational skills and management expertise
Sound knowledge and understanding of the Bangladeshi tertiary education system
Very good working knowledge of ITC technologies
Excellent presentations and conflict resolutions skill
