POSITION TITLE: Communications Officer
Winrock International is a nonprofit organization that works with people in the United States and around the world to empower the disadvantaged, increase economic opportunity, and sustain natural resources is looking for Communications Officer, Ashshash Project.
BACKGROUND: Ashshash: For Men and Women Who Have Escaped Trafficking’ is focusing on restoring dignity, well-being, and self-sufficiency of men and women who have escaped trafficking. The project works in partnership with public and private sector service providers to deliver a myriad of services to ensure the social wellbeing and economic empowerment of trafficking survivors. Ashshash intends to support the beneficiaries in getting employment and starting business after successful completion of skills development and entrepreneurial training. Ashshash project aims to improve the sustainable rehabilitation and reintegration of 5,000 trafficking survivors by the end of the project in 2022. This four-year project is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and implemented by Winrock International (WI).
The Ashshash project office is located in Dhaka. The program focus areas are five districts in southern Bangladesh with some of the country’s highest prevalence levels – Satkhira, Khulna and Jashore in Khulna Division and Chattogram and Cox’s Bazaar in Chattogram Division.
POSITION TITLE: Communications Officer, Ashshash Project
LOCATION: Duty station Dhaka with travel as per the need to field offices and working sites
STATUS: Full time; subject to continuation of donor funding
REPORTS TO: Team Leader
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Communications Officer will lead the communications activities and maintain project documentation to contribute the goal of Ashshash; support project in awareness raising activities and organize different trainings/ workshop/ meeting.
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Plan and execute of communication related activities of Ashshash following SDC and Winrock’s guidelines
Develop communication materials including IEC materials, communication documents, social media clipping and write-up, relevant presentations, success story, photo story, video clips, press releases, annual reports and briefing material for dissemination to different stakeholders
Assist to develop module, guidelines and other project related documents as per need of other components
Collect and review BCC materials from different project/organizations and align those for Ashshash awareness activities and circulate different of communication and visibility materials as per project requirement
Document project result, significant accomplishment of sub partners, national level event and day observation
Support project to plan and lead awareness raising events, campaign program and information dissemination in collaboration with sub partners
Liaise with Winrock’s Home Office Communications team to provide up-to-date information on Ashshash activities and address all communication requirements for the project.
Support to develop periodic report including semiannual and annual report
Maintain a media monitoring report focused on Human trafficking and migration
Execute field visit and produce field monitoring report in regular basis
Support to Program team for periodical internal assessment of project and activities monitoring
Maintain documentation management system as per Winrock’s policies (hard copy and on network)
Any other duties as assigned by Team Leader
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Master’s in communications, international development, behavioral economics, or related field
Technical: Minimum of 6 years of professional experiences in communications related position in development organization.
Work Experience:
Experience implementing national and international projects to the highest ethical standards
Relevant and significant experience in training, designing and implementing capacity building plans in communications research and development communications; targeting a wide range of stakeholders such as local NGOs, development practitioners, youth groups.
Experience in writing media releases, reports, awareness materials for social protection and other relevant interventions, in both Bangla and English.
Professional expertise in developing communications plans, materials, and methods, including monitoring the impact of these on target audiences.
Skills/Knowledge:
Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Bangla required;
Technical experience in human trafficking and related social protection themes, specifically contextualized in South Asia preferred;
Excellent networking skills and proven experience in enlisting media practitioners and other key stakeholders in planning and executing major events and campaigns
Proven track record utilizing appropriate traditional and social media to achieve objectives
Proven ability to think creatively and be innovative
Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, Editor, Power point and desktop publishing/graphic software such as Adobe In-design, Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Publisher. Video editing application
